  31 <P><STRONG>Description</STRONG>
  32 <P>The <B>fs sysname</B> command displays the string stored in kernel memory that
  33 indicates the local machine's CPU/operating system (OS) type. The
  34 Cache Manager substitutes the string for the <VAR>@sys</VAR> variable which can
  35 occur in AFS pathnames; the <I>IBM AFS Quick Beginnings</I> and
  36 <I>IBM AFS Administration Guide</I> explain how using <VAR>@sys</VAR> can
  37 simplify cell configuration.
  38 <P>The command always reports the value for the local machine only. To
  39 set a new value in kernel memory, use the <B>fs sysname</B> command, which
  40 like this command can also be used to display the current value.

  42 <P>The machine's system type appears as a text string:
