3 bos prune - Removes obsolete files from /usr/afs/bin and /usr/afs/logs
7 B<bos prune> B<-server> <I<machine name>> [B<-bak>] [B<-old>] [B<-core>]
8 [B<-all>] [B<-cell> <I<cell name>>] [B<-noauth>] [B<-localauth>]
11 B<bos p> B<-s> <I<machine name>> [B<-b>] [B<-o>] [B<-co>] [B<-a>]
12 [B<-ce> <I<cell name>>] [B<-n>] [B<-l>] [B<-h>]
16 The B<bos prune> command removes files from the local disk of the server
17 machine named by the B<-server> argument, as specified by one or more of
18 the following flags provided on the command line:
24 The B<-bak> flag removes all files from the F</usr/afs/bin> directory that
25 have a C<.BAK> extension.
29 The B<-old> flag removes all files from the F</usr/afs/bin> directory that
30 have a C<.OLD> extension.
34 The B<-core> flag removes all files from the F</usr/afs/logs> directory
35 that have a C<core.> prefix.
39 The B<-all> flag removes all three types of files at once.
43 (If none of these flags are included, the command appears to succeed, but
44 removes no files at all.)
46 To display the timestamp on the current, C<.BAK>, and C<.OLD> versions of
47 one or more files, use the B<bos getdate> command.
53 =item B<-server> <I<machine name>>
55 Indicates the server machine from which to remove files. Identify the
56 machine by IP address or its host name (either fully-qualified or
57 abbreviated unambiguously). For details, see L<bos(8)>.
61 Removes all files from the F</usr/afs/bin> directory that have a C<.BAK>
62 extension. Do not combine this flag and the B<-all> flag.
66 Removes all files from the F</usr/afs/bin> directory that have a C<.OLD>
67 extension. Do not combine this flag and the B<-all> flag.
71 Removes all files from the F</usr/afs/logs> directory that have a C<core.>
72 prefix. Do not combine this flag and the B<-all> flag.
76 Combines the effect of the B<-bak>, B<-old>, and B<-core> flags. Do not
77 combine this flag with any of those three.
79 =item B<-cell> <I<cell name>>
81 Names the cell in which to run the command. Do not combine this argument
82 with the B<-localauth> flag. For more details, see L<bos(8)>.
86 Assigns the unprivileged identity C<anonymous> to the issuer. Do not
87 combine this flag with the B<-localauth> flag. For more details, see
92 Constructs a server ticket using a key from the local
93 F</usr/afs/etc/KeyFile> file. The B<bos> command interpreter presents the
94 ticket to the BOS Server during mutual authentication. Do not combine this
95 flag with the B<-cell> or B<-noauth> options. For more details, see
100 Prints the online help for this command. All other valid options are
107 The following example removes all files from the F</usr/afs/bin> directory

112 The following example removes all files from the F</usr/afs/bin> directory
113 on the machine C<db2.abc.com> that have a C<.BAK> or C<.OLD> extension,
114 and all files from the F</usr/afs/logs> directory that have a C<core.>
117 % bos prune -server db2.abc.com -all
119 =head1 PRIVILEGE REQUIRED
121 The issuer must be listed in the F</usr/afs/etc/UserList> file on the
122 machine named by the B<-server> argument, or must be logged onto a server
123 machine as the local superuser C<root> if the B<-localauth> flag is
